In this brief review, we have examined some clinical conditions that result to be associated to an altered hemorheological profile and at times accompanied by skin ulcers. Value of the deep femoral artery as alternative inflow source in infrainguinal bypass surgery.

Background The purpose of this study was to analyze the long-term results of infrainguinal bypass surgery using the deep femoral artery (DFA) as the inflow source. Methods Between 1998 and 2011, 88 bypasses of the lower limb were placed in 86 patients (mean age 71 years) using the deep femoral artery as inflow. Patients' records were retrieved from a computerized database and analyzed retrospectively. Results Critical limb ischemia (rest pain/tissue loss) was the indication in the majority (87.5%) of cases. Impact of endovascular treatment on clinical status and health-related quality of life.

Background and Aims: Investigating the impact of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) on clinical status and health related quality of life in patients with claudication and critical limb ischaemia (CLI). Material and Methods: 61 patients and 64 limbs underwent a primary PTA (30 claudication and 34 CLI cases). Clinical status was graded according to Ahn and Rutherford and ankle/brachial index (ABI). Late carotid artery stent erosion and pseudoaneurysm after accidental hyperextension of the neck

A 75-year-old man was referred to our unit complaining of a large pulsatile neck mass that appeared 2 days after an accidental fall and hyperextension of the neck. One month earlier, he was submitted to left carotid artery stenting for symptomatic high-grade stenosis. His medical history included diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, and a right femoropopliteal bypass for critical limb ischemia. Rheopheresis in Patients with Critical Limb Ischemia--Results of an Open Label Prospective Pilot Trial

Rheopheresis is a specifically designed application of double filtration plasmapheresis, for extracorporeal treatment of microcirculatory disorders. Safety and efficacy of Rheopheresis for wound healing and skin oxygenation were investigated in patients with critical limb ischemia. Twelve patients of Fontaine stage III-IV were treated with a series of 10 Rheopheresis sessions over 17 weeks.
